SUITED AND BOOTED

After kitting up in Rip Curl wetsuits from the comfort of our heating changing rooms, your team will then be paired up with a kayak and a paddle for the adventure ahead. First we’ll run through the vital safety information before getting to grips with basic strokes and key manoeuvres. With everyone feeling comfortable and safe, it’s then time to hit the water.

We launch and land from two of Newquay’s lush, semi-secret coves. The start to experience is an adventure, as we walk down a rock path to the water’s edge. It’s worth it as the scenery is breath taking, there is some incredible coastal wildlife in the area, and you really are experiencing the best of Newquay’s coastal fringe. We take the walk down to the water slowly, the kayaks will be waiting in the cove for you.

We pride ourselves in sharing a well-rounded learning experience, which will on many tours see you given the opportunity to experience both a double and single kayak. If you start in a double kayak but want to try a single, we swap mid-way on either one of the secret beaches that we visit or in the ocean environment. We cannot guarantee that you will have a single or a double kayak for the duration of the tour. But will have the opportunity to experience both, or one or the other.

From the shallows of Towan Beach and with the big open waters beckoning, we’ll paddle out of the bay towards the ‘Gazzle’. This is a stunning stretch of Atlantic coastline teeming with marine wildlife and unique coastal features. Here the kayak becomes a unique viewing platform from which to view the underwater world below. As we glide along the coast, keep your eyes peeled because you’re guaranteed to encounter an array of marine wildlife – our aquatic friends love Newquay just as much as we do! Seals, otters, Kingfishers…they’re all in the area and we’ll help you to identify what’s what.

BRINGING HISTORY TO LIFE

Combining the contemporary, action-packed side of Newquay with its fishing and traditional past, our sea kayaking adventures fuse Newquay’s two alter egos. Delve into hidden coves once favoured by smugglers, paddle through waters where ships have met their fate and hear tales from days gone by. Our instructors are as clued up and as passionate about Newquay’s history as they are about getting corporate teams out into the action.

As well as the Gazzle, other route options include the serene and sheltered Gannel estuary, Towan Head and the wide expanse of the bay. Whichever path you take, the ride will be gloriously scenic and the setting will be the perfect place to get to know your peers.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS EXTREME WEATHER?

We are super fortunate to operate many of our activities in the shelter of Towan beach. We choose the tide and weather times that deliver the very best conditions for team building activities in Newquay. However, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and sometimes she may have different plans for us. We always check the forecasted conditions but if the wind or swell picks up unexpectedly, we may need to change the time or location of your session. Alternatively, we can move your booking onto a different activity, safe from unsuitable or dangerous conditions.

Over 95% of our tours go ahead unaffected by the weather but, in the unlikely event that this does happen, we have excellent back-up options for you to choose from. If we need to amend your corporate team building activity due to adverse weather, we will let you know in advance. (No need to call us). We appreciate your understanding.
