Kayaking is an awesome and fully inclusive, perfect-for-everyone activity. Kids pick it up quickly and, as a result, absolutely love it. Seeing their smiles as they paddle across the ocean, dip in and out of caves and pass otherwise inaccessible parts of the coastline is our ultimate goal.

We’ve designed our Kids Kayak Tours to max out on the spectacular parts of Newquay’s amazing coastline. This includes our local headland known affectionately as ‘The Gazzle’, a 2km stretch of land teeming with marine wildlife, unique rock formations and iconic features.

And if young adventurers aren’t blown away by the incredible sights, they certainly will be when we share tales of Newquay’s dramatic past. Our local instructors will bring the coastline alive with stories of smugglers, shipwrecks and brave fisherman. There’s also wildlife encounters and games aplenty to hike up the wow factor and make this an experience they’ll never forget!

BRINGING SAFETY, FUN & LIFE SKILLS TOGETHER

Safety is our number one priority. Everything that we do comes back to making sure your child enjoys the ocean in the safest way possible. With over 20 years experience, we’re experts in helping kids push their limits in a supportive, safe and controlled environment. They’ll have a great time guaranteed, but they’ll also learn important water safety skills, build confidence and develop a whole new respect for the environment. Not bad for a kayaking lesson hey?!

At our centre HQ on Fore Street we’ve got child-specific equipment for all sizes. They’ll be kitted out with wetsuits and buoyancy aids in our heated changing rooms to keep them warm and comfortable during the session. Before we even hit the water there will be safety briefings, demos, practices and warm-up activities; phew, it’s a jam-packed session!

We launch and land from two of Newquay’s lush, semi-secret coves. The start to experience is an adventure, as we walk down a rock path to the water’s edge. It’s worth it as the scenery is breath taking, there is some incredible coastal wildlife in the area, and you really are experiencing the best of Newquay’s coastal fringe. We take the walk down to the water slowly, the kayaks will be waiting in the cove for you.

We pride ourselves in sharing a well-rounded learning experience, which will on many tours see you given the opportunity to experience both a double and single kayak. If you start in a double kayak but want to try a single, we swap mid-way on either one of the secret beaches that we visit or in the ocean environment. We cannot guarantee that you will have a single or a double kayak for the duration of the tour. But will have the opportunity to experience both, or one or the other.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS EXTREME WEATHER?

We are super fortunate to operate many of our activities in the shelter of Towan beach. We choose the tide and weather times that deliver the very best conditions for Kayak Tours. However, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and sometimes she may have different plans for us. We always check the forecasted conditions but if the wind or swell picks up unexpectedly, we will move your session on to our Super SUPs, this will ensure you still cover the same route and session content but will be on a craft that is more resilient against the conditions. Alternatively, we may offer a different time or location for your tour.

Over 95% of our tours go ahead unaffected by the weather but, in the unlikely event that this does happen, we have excellent back-up options for you to choose from. We appreciate your understanding.

All of our instructors hold the current DBS requirements for working with children. We pride ourselves on inclusion and adapt our sessions to suit all ages and abilities. If we need to amend your child’s booking due to adverse weather, we will let you know in advance. (No need to call us). We appreciate your understanding.

NEWQUAY ACTIVITY CENTRE

Our purpose-designed centre, conveniently located near Towan beach, is your one-stop shop for ocean adventure activities in Newquay. When you book with Newquay Activity Centre you get the care, attention, knowledge and feedback that you need.
