Adrenaline fuelled competition on our Super SUP Boards
Wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets, rash vests, SUP and paddles included
Launch and landing skills, kneel and stand up paddling
Navigational skills and team work
By working as a team you will be upskilled to propel the huge stand up paddleboard forwards, backwards and to take directions around the craggy coastline. After a tour of the coast you will challenge your oponents in a sprint paddle race around our course. There can only be one victorious team.
How does it work?
On arrival at our HQ at Towan Beach in Newquay, your service men and women will be divided into two teams and kitted out in a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet and pro paddle. We’ll then head down to the launch point for a tutorial on stand up paddling fundamentals, with one of our experienced and enthusiastic instructors. We will lead you through the challenging yet useful transferable skills of launching and landing, effective stand up paddling strokes, steering & controlling the SUP, kneel paddling and beach safety.
Consolidation of new skills
After the stand up paddling beach briefing, both teams are given the opportunity to build up their confidence by practicing what they’ve learnt on a point-to-point orienteering exercise. It will not only help your troops get to grips with our super sized SUPs, but it will test their team working, navigation and leadership skills. On successful completion of the first objective, both teams will moor up for series of physically demanding and camaraderie building fun games (Sumo SUP, King of the SUP, and Dizzy stick stand up paddling).
The final battle
Once both teams are fired up from the SUP games we’ll make our way to the centre stage and part three of the adventurous training exercise – the eagerly awaited sprint paddle race. The first team to round the buoy and back is the winner. However, it’s not as simple as it sounds when teams are encouraged to ram, board and plunder the enemy craft, and where SUPs can only continue when all hands are on deck. The race offers a perfect balance of physical exertion, endurance, teamwork and tenacity as one team attempts to outwit their adversary.
