LEARN TO STAND UP PADDLE BOARD!

With the correct safety advice and instruction, stand up paddle boarding is quick and easy to learn. First, our instructors teach you the basics, then the tour sets off with a unique and relaxing paddle along the breathtaking Gannel estuary or around Newquay’s scenic coastline. Most of our SUP groups begin paddling on their knees, advancing to a stand up position when they feel safe and confident to do so.

Our River and Ocean SUP Paddle & Prosecco Tours have been designed to not only supply you with prosecco (we know that’s the real reason you’re here!) but to also teach you many core SUP skills. These include how to launch and land, stand up and balance, hold your paddle, perform basic strokes and how to make directional changes.

There is absolutely no pressure on our Paddle & Prosecco Tour; feel free to enjoy the session from the comfort of your board, or give standing up a go – it’s entirely up to you! Our experienced instructors are there to help whatever your skill level may be,  just don’t have too many Proseccos at your half-way point!

RIVER SUP WITH A GLASS OF PROSECCO

If you choose our River Paddle & Prosecco tour, you will learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Gannel which your instructor will be excited to share with you. At Penpol Creek you’ll see evidence of a disused lime kiln and the moorings from a shipyard that date back to 1872. Paddle amongst the shrouded lagoon with its overhanging trees and soak in the peaceful seclusion.

Moor your SUP next to this historic lime kiln before following your instructor into the calmness of the woods. Wander through the tree-lined path to the top of the hill and soak in the stunning panoramic estuary view. Now it’s time to chill out, rest and enjoy that well-earned glass of fizz!

The River Gannel has a unique feel to it. The estuary meanders and sweeps its way out to sea, separating Newquay from the nearby Crantock village. In the summer months the estuary could be mistaken for the Mediteranean – it’s truly beautiful!

Paddling along the river, you’ll have opportunities to pause and soak in the beautiful scenery. Think tree-lined banks, peaceful lagoons and tiny coves – all teeming with wildlife, flora and fauna. Your instructor will point out rare wading birds, local river fish and maybe even some cute little otters and voles!

Take a moment to be mindful, enjoy the silence and spend some quality time appreciating nature.

OCEAN ALTERNATIVE

Opting for our alternative Ocean Paddle & Prosecco tour will give you the chance to see a side of Newquay not often admired with a glass of bubbly in hand! Gaze at the rugged coastline, secret caves and local wildlife as you paddle your way through the crystal-clear waters of Newquay.

Our Ocean Paddle & Prosecco tour is the ultimate way to chill out after a hard week or perhaps even better for celebrating some big news! Whatever your reason for booking, you can enjoy a relaxed side of Newquay away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.

We launch and land from two of Newquay’s lush, semi-secret coves. The start to experience is an adventure, as we walk down a rock path to the water’s edge. It’s worth it as the scenery is breath taking, there is some incredible coastal wildlife in the area, and you really are experiencing the best of Newquay’s coastal fringe. We take the walk down to the water slowly, the paddleboards will be waiting in the cove for you.

After learning some basic paddle techniques, your instructor will lead the way at a leisurely pace giving you plenty of time to soak in the incredible views. Taking the tide and conditions into consideration, your guide will find the ultimate place to tether your boards, moor up and chill out. This will stabilise the fleet onto the instructor so you can switch off and relax without drifting away!

Once you’re ‘rafted up’, it’s time to pop the cork and pour the Prosecco! Take this time to appreciate your surroundings and unwind from the stresses of everyday life.
