The ISA Level 1 Surf Coach Award is the industry standard for teaching surfing in the UK and around the world. Join our experienced team of surf industry professionals and learn the surf specific skills required for a career in surf instructing!

The International Surfing Association (ISA) level one qualification focuses on the coaching of beginner to intermediate level surfers.
This course requires you to have a recognised surf lifesaving qualification:
- Surf Life Saving Great Britain (SLSGB) Surf Coach Safety and Rescue Award
- Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) or SLSGB National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ)
- SLSGB Surf Lifeguard Award
- Personal surfing experience
- Intermediate surfing ability
- Recognised Surf Lifesaving Award

Once successfully completed, surf instructors must do 20 hours of supervised surf instruction or provide documented Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) signed off by a guided supervisor. Newquay Activity Centre gives course graduates the opportunity to complete their 20 hours practical supervised instruction with our team and interview for a paid position as a newly qualified surfing instructor!
