Turn enquiries into bookings and help grow one of Cornwall’s leading activity businesses.
At Newquay Activity Centre, we do not just run activities – we create memorable experiences on the Cornish coast.
From surfing and coasteering to paddleboarding and kayaking, we help tens of thousands of people every year enjoy the best of Cornwall’s coastline. We are now looking for a commercially minded Sales Executive to help us convert demand into bookings, build relationships, and drive sales across the business.
The role
This role is primarily a sales role.
You will be responsible for turning enquiries into confirmed bookings, driving repeat business, building local relationships, and helping grow both B2C and B2B sales.
You will work across direct customer enquiries, group bookings, local outreach, partnership opportunities, and sales for our industry-leading Instructor Academy.
This is not a marketing manager role and it is not a pure content role.
You do not need to be someone who wants to sit and build marketing campaigns all day. We are looking for someone who understands how marketing supports sales, can help shape messaging and spot opportunities, but whose main strength is selling, following up leads, building relationships and driving revenue.
What you will be doing
- handling inbound enquiries across email, phone, social channels and face to face
- converting enquiries into confirmed bookings
- managing the customer journey from first contact through to confirmation
- owning and maintaining our Zoho CRM system to keep leads, follow-ups and pipeline activity organised
- proactively following up warm leads and opportunities that have not yet converted
- helping grow B2C sales from direct customers, holidaymakers and returning guests
- helping grow B2B sales through schools, groups, corporate clients, local accommodation providers, military contacts and other partners
- identifying outreach and partnership opportunities that can generate more bookings
- leading sales for our Instructor Academy
- contributing to sales strategy and helping improve how we convert demand
- supporting marketing activity where it directly helps generate bookings, including feeding into offers, messaging and campaigns
What makes this role different
This is not a traditional desk-based sales job.
You will be selling real experiences, not just products. You will be working in a seasonal business where demand moves quickly, where customer experience matters, and where your work has a direct impact on bookings, revenue and day-to-day operations.
It is a hands-on commercial role in a fast-moving environment.
Who this role would suit
This role would suit someone who:
- has a strong sales background and is confident converting enquiries into bookings
- is comfortable speaking to people on the phone, face to face and in writing
- has experience with both B2B and B2C sales, or is clearly strong in one and capable of developing the other
- understands how to manage leads and pipeline activity through a CRM
- is proactive, organised and good at following up opportunities
- enjoys relationship building and spotting commercial opportunities
- wants to be part of a growing, ambitious business
- can work at pace and stay calm during busy periods
- understands that marketing should support sales, even if they are not a full-time marketer or campaign creator
Desirable experience
- experience in tourism, hospitality, outdoor activities, leisure, travel or events
- experience using Zoho CRM or similar systems
- experience with group bookings, partnership sales or local business development
- interest in outdoor activities or adventure-based environments
- experience working in a small team
- previous experience with Google Suite
Working pattern
- full-time, 40 hours per week
- weekend and school holiday availability required during peak summer season
- remote work opportunities available during the winter months from the start of November to the end of March
Why join us
- £40,000 OTE potential
- work oceanside, with the chance to surf or swim before or after work
- join Newquay’s longest-running Activity Centre, with 29 years in operation
- be part of an award-winning business, including UK Surf School of the Year 2025 plus multiple Cornwall and South West tourism awards
- help shape sales strategy in a role where your work will have a visible impact
- work with exciting cross-selling opportunities across our sister brands, including Bodyboard Holidays and Women and Waves
- join a friendly, energetic and diverse team
- work with a business ranked number 1 on Tripadvisor and Google with thousands of 5-star reviews
- be part of a company with strong local reputation and global connections through our wider group
