WHAT IS THE ADVENTURE GULLY?
Our expert instructors spent a long time finding this hidden gem, pioneering a coasteering route where everything happens within one extraordinary secret Cornish cove. One minute you’ll be clambering up through a hole in the rock called Smeagol’s Perch, then leaping out into the middle of its crystal blue plunge pool.
It’s our very own ‘under the radar’ secret spot, so you won’t see any other coasteer groups down there, just plenty of natural wildlife and even some friendly seals!
You’ll learn a whole range of super cool skills including wild swimming, technical traversing and how to safely swim, climb and clamber through sea caves. You’ll also learn how to negotiate sluices, natural rapids and big gully wash troughs. Along the way you will meet and greet a variety of Cornwall marine life that our trained and animated team of instructors will be excited to teach you about.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED?
From our brand new purpose-built centre, we will provide wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. Once you’re comfortably kitted out from within our heated changing rooms, you’ll be given a full safety briefing and comprehensive instruction about correct coasteering techniques. You will cover how to enter and exit the water, traverse the cliff lines and go wild swimming safely between sections, before heading down to the Adventure Gully fun zone.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?Â
The Adventure Gully is an aquatic playground full of rock ledges and caves to explore, but you don’t want to do that in bare feet! You will need to bring a pair of lace-up trainers with hard soles. Old trainers that fit you well will be perfect. If you don’t have your own pair, we can provide trainers for a small hire charge. Remember to bring some swimwear to go under your wetsuit and a towel for afterwards. You’ll want to make the most of our hot outdoor showers back at base!

OUR EXPERTISE
We are the longest running Newquay Coasteering centre. We launched our first coasteer in 1999, and pioneered a number of the routes along Newquay’s coastime, even naming Adventure Gully.
We have since diversified to offer unique coasteering hybrids such as Super SUP Coasteering, Kayak coasteering, Cornish Castaway, and Heritage coasteering. With over 200,000 guests passing through the centre, more than any other coasteer company in the UK, our experience has been gained organically and reflects in our endless positive reviews.
We have shaped coasteering in the UK through the development of coasteer guide training courses, training many of the coasteer guides in the local and national industry through our 3 months instructor course. We are registered members of the National Coasteering Charter and our coasteer leads are signed off to work by John Paul Eatock, the National Coasteering Charter Regional Rept. John is widely recognised as the foremost coasteer expert in the country.Â
Ongoing in house training maintains the highest standards of safety and knowledge sharing to ensure that we maintain our excellent safety record.
