WHAT IS THE NORTH COAST CHALLENGE?
A coastal exploration like no other! Get set to explore caves, swim through the sea, climb, leap, and laugh along our epic coasteering route. The North Coast Challenge will push your boundaries and boost your confidence in the most thrilling and enjoyable way possible!
The two-hour experience kicks off by getting you kitted out in a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet in our on-site heated changing rooms. Our activity centre, located in the middle of Newquay also has lockboxes and storage for all your personal belongings.
Then it’s time to negotiate a route pioneered by shipwrecked sailors and tea-plundering pirates. You’ll quickly discover why we are #1 on TripAdvisor and offer the best coasteering experiences in Newquay!
During our adrenaline-fuelled North Coast Challenge, you’ll explore the smugglers’ caves and craggy crevices of Newquay’s Gazzle headland. For those who have enjoyed our Adventure Gully coasteering experience, this is a more intense step up – it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills, explore new areas and climb exciting new routes. Navigate the coastline with our expert guides, wild swim between different sections of the route, traverse low-level stretches, ride natural rapids and leap from cliff ledges into deep water plunge pools.
We have a variety of routes to choose from that promise challenging and exhilarating adventures for all. We’ll never throw you in at the deep end and there are always alternative routes to tailor the adventure to your ability. You can choose the intensity – we’ve got your back and that’s a promise!
What’s more, our passionate team can teach you all about the marine life and heritage of the Cornish coastline. Look out for grey seals and listen up to the history of landmarks like the 14th-century Huer’s Hut that sits upon the headland.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
We’ve got you covered when it comes to the technical kit. From our purpose-built centre, we will provide you with wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. Once you’re comfortably kitted out in the warmth of our heated changing rooms, you’ll be given a full safety briefing and comprehensive instructions about correct coasteering techniques. You will cover how to enter and exit the water, traverse the cliff line and wild swim safely between sections of the route.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Coasteering tackles a rugged coastal route so you’ll need to bring a pair of lace-up shoes with hard soles. Old trainers that fit you well will be perfect. If you don’t have any, we can provide trainers for a small hire charge. Remember to bring some swimwear to go underneath your wetsuit and a towel for afterwards. You’ll want to make the most of our hot outdoor showers back at the base!

OUR EXPERTISE
We are the longest running Newquay Coasteering centre. We launched our first coasteer in 1999, and pioneered a number of the routes along Newquay’s coastime, even naming Adventure Gully.
We have since diversified to offer unique coasteering hybrids such as Super SUP Coasteering, Kayak coasteering, Cornish Castaway, and Heritage coasteering. With over 200,000 guests passing through the centre, more than any other coasteer company in the UK, our experience has been gained organically and reflects in our endless positive reviews.
We have shaped coasteering in the UK through the development of coasteer guide training courses, training many of the coasteer guides in the local and national industry through our 3 months instructor course. We are registered members of the National Coasteering Charter and our coasteer leads are signed off to work by John Paul Eatock, the National Coasteering Charter Regional Rept. John is widely recognised as the foremost coasteer expert in the country.
Ongoing in house training maintains the highest standards of safety and knowledge sharing to ensure that we maintain our excellent safety record.
