Do I need to be able to swim to have a surfing lesson in Newquay?

Book your next adventure!

The answer is yes; we do ask that everybody who takes part in our surf lessons can swim. Although you generally won’t leave waist depth water, we request that you can swim a minimum of 50 metres to be able to participate in our beginner surf lessons. Although your feet should never leave the floor (unless you are riding a wave!).

We suggest that in order to get the most from your surfing lesson in Newquay you take some swim lessons. We can recommend the Cornish Swim Academy.

If you’re looking to learn to swim at any age, from 2 years and upwards try the Cornish Swim Academy they offer swimming lessons for all ages, small group lessons or 121 swimming lessons are available.

For swimming lessons we recommend that you have the best kit, If your swim team or club or swim school are looking for custom printed swimming caps, try the UK’s leading supplier of customised swim caps.

Both the general public and CWT members were treated to a very special coasteer team that included Marine Awareness Officer Matt Slater and local Eco Coasteer legend Karl Fice-Thomson. Due to the extreme low tide it was predicted that an area already abundant in wildlife would prove extra special with rock pools and caves normally inaccessible a likely haven to different species.
