HOW DOES IT WORK?
Bodyboarding is an exhilarating step-up from your traditional boogie-board specials. Simple to learn and addictive to master, your family will be catching white-water waves in no time! Learn a variety of wave riding skills under the expert eye of our experienced instructors. We’ve been introducing people to bodyboarding in Cornwall for over 20 years – kids, teenagers, parents and grandparents are all capable of learning and enjoying this hugely accessible sport!
PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION
Our team of coaches are all beach lifeguards as well as experienced and qualified bodyboard instructors. With a passion for the ocean, they have years of personal experience in the water too. We underpin their qualifications with in-house training by former European #1 and World Tour bodyboarder, Rob Barber. We’ve thoroughly equipped our instructors to provide the best bodyboarding experiences in Cornwall – you are in safe hands. The lesson is consistently pitched at a suitable level to engage each member of the family.
WHY NEWQUAY ACTIVITY CENTRE?
Our purpose-designed HQ is centrally located in Newquay town with surf shops and local eateries just a few-minutes walk away. World-famous Fistral beach is just a 10-minute walk from our centre, with Towan beach only a stone’s-throw away in the opposite direction. Here you will find Atlantic swell wrapping around the local headland into our sheltered bay, creating the ultimate bodyboarding conditions!
We don’t send our customers out on bodyboards that we wouldn’t be happy to ride ourselves; that’s why we only invest in the best quality equipment available on the market. We supply first-rate bodyboards, wetsuits and swim fins on our bodyboard lessons, putting you in the best possible position to kick-start your learning.
Our helpful instructors will provide you with the correct size bodyboard for your weight, the right size wetsuit for your height and the best fitting swim fins for your feet. This top-quality kit enables faster progression, bigger improvements and makes for an all-round more enjoyable lesson.
All equipment including wetsuits, bodyboards, ID vests and swim fins are provided along with changing facilities and safe storage for your valuables. We also have on-site lockers for bags and clothes so you don’t have to leave your gear unattended on the beach!

We will tailor your bodyboarding lessons to ensure every family member feels confident and rewarded, whatever their ability. You’ll also learn basic lifeguarding skills and vital elements of beach safety! Our Family Bodyboarding Lessons are a safe place to learn, develop, encourage and enjoy something new and exciting as a family unit. They’re also fantastic for settling that age old dilemma of sibling rivalry!

OUR EXPERTISE
Back in 1995, bodyboarding was the fastest growing watersport in the world. Yet there was no official pathway to learn how to do it. Born out of necessity, we developed the world’s first bodyboarding lessons, which followed with us writing the world’s first bodyboard instructor training course for the International Surfing Association and Surfing Australia. Our Director Rob Barber has been British Bodyboarding Champion multiple times and even European Champion! He’s surfed and competed all over the world.
Nearly 30 years later we have delivered over 200,000 coastal activities from our base in Newquay. We have the biggest bodyboard instruction channel on YouTube and we have diversified to offer bodyboard coaching weekends around the UK and bodyboard coaching holidays around the world. Recently we have created the first bodyboard specific rescue protocols in order to keep our guests safe.
