This month our Academy Manager, Freddie Allen-Gething attended an Adaptive International Surfing Association course in Croyde. This was both a fantastic professional development opportunity for Freddie, and a hugely in-demand string now added to Newquay Activity Centre’s bow.
The Adaptive ISA course is run by Ben Clifford @surfability_uk, and focuses on modifying surf lessons and surf therapy sessions to suit anyone with a disability or learning difficulty.
The ocean is there for everyone to claim as their playground, but traditional equipment and lesson delivery techniques can present mental, emotional or physical obstacles that may preclude an individual from participating fully.
Here at NAC, we believe it’s our job to smooth the learning journey in order to make the ocean accessible and enjoyable to all. Everyday, we as a centre learn more about how we can help our customers thrive in the water, and we will continue to channel resources and effort into improving our adaptive offerings.
