New Years Eve Charity Cornwall Castaway

Book your next adventure!

Yes, it’s happening again!

This new years eve we’ll be holding our annual charity event but we’ve spiced it up with an adventurous twist. Not only will participants be taken on an awesome coasteer adventure they will also be introduced to our incredible Super Stand UP Paddleboard and learn some bushcraft skills including firelighting to toast marshmallows. Yes, this will be the official launch of our brand new activity ‘The Cornwall Castaway’.

A New Adventure

A hundred years ago this December a boat named the Osten was shipwrecked off the Cribbar in Newquay. The brave lifeboat men that attempted to save the crew were capsized and had to draw up on all of their ocean and survival knowledge to save their lives. Our Cornwall Castaway activity re-enacts this heroic feat of bravery, do you think that you’ve got the skills to survive?

This historically relevant adventure starts from our activity centre in Newquay, where groups of all ages will assemble to join our team of coasteering, SUP and survival experts.

Full kit of toasty, warm winter wetsuits and equipment are provided, and after a thorough safety brief, the group make their way down to the waters edge to embark upon a historic coastal adventure. The old lifeboat slipway is the first iconic landmark you’ll explore and from there you’ll be immersed in the rich cultural heritage of Newquay’s coves and caves.

There’s so much to learn about within our coastline, from ecology to its rich history and smugglers tales. Participants will be climbing, traversing and leaping from the rocks. Paddling the Super Stand UP Paddle Board around the coast and then mooring at a secret beach to build a fire and roast some marshmallows! It’s a hands on way to explore an area of Newquay that you would never other wise see. You’ll be welcoming in the New Year fresh from an adrenaline-fuelled adventure in the Cornish seas!

Newquay Activity Centre Director Rob Barber commented;

“Whilst advancements in winter wetsuits ensure that you’re kept toasty and warm, winter coasteering, SUP and Bush craft skills give you a real sense of achievement, as you brave the elements and step out of your comfort zone. It could be glorious winter sunshine or icy rain, but we can guarantee that this combination of activities will see you energized and invigorated. It’s a really great way to start the New Year.“

The New Years Eve Cornwall Castaway takes place from 1.30pm on December 31st and costs £45 (or make a donation to the cause through us at time of booking).

All proceeds go to the military charity for families; SSAFA.

End 2017 with a splash and make this New Years Eve one to remember!
