Newquay Surf Instructors Win Gold!
For the last four years Newquay Activity Centre has entered teams at the Paddle for Life event that is held in Newquay Harbour. The event has grown in stature each year with hundreds competing for the prestigious title with both children and adult paddle relay races. We are extremely happy to say we won this year’s event beating some stiff competition. The race was tight but our team compromising of some of our best surf instructors brought the trophy back home after narrowly missing out the year before. This is the second time the Newquay Activity Centre has won the event.
Newquay Activity Centre – Lifeguards and Safety
Not only did we enter a team for the relay race itself but also a crew of our top instructors were on hand to help with running the event as a whole. Our team of volunteers delivered the highest standard of water patrol in order to make sure the high number of participants were safe. As well as the safety aspect of the event our team made sure the races were started fairly and people were entering and exiting the water correctly as well as being guided on where to paddle during the races.
The event was another huge success and altogether since starting has now raised £132, 742. We can’t wait for next year’s event already where we hope to retain our trophy and help this amazing cause get bigger and better yet again.
