SIR, YES SIR!  Newquay Activity Centre strengthens its ongoing support for the Armed Forces with the signing of an official Armed Forces Covenant.

Newquay Activity Centre signed the official covenant created in partnership with the British Army, which reinforces Newquay Activity Centre’s continued support for all military forces, veterans, reservists, regulars and their families. On Tuesday, Major Mick Peters and representatives from the Army surfing team visited the centre to oversee the agreement.
The Newquay Activity Centre covenant is built upon a continued and successful relationship that Director Rob Barber and his team have developed over the last 15 years, providing unique adventure training and ocean activities for the military personnel, teams and individuals.

Military Covenant AwardIn addition to this, Newquay Activity Centre has been providing exclusive military discounts to all military personnel as well as providing free activity days for families who have recently relocated to Cornwall. Newquay Activity Centre is also a lead sponsor of the Navy surf team, a supporter of the RAF Wave Riders and the Army surf team. The sponsorship and support has seen Rob Barber and his team deliver competition specific training, photography and videography analysis for improvements in specific surfing techniques and Rob has also provided strategic consultancy on UK and international surf contests. Ex British number one Bodyboarder Rob Barber, together with former British Surfing Champion Johnny Fryer helped the teams to train in preparation for their international events in California and more recently Australia. Newquay Activity Centre also launched their official Lifeguarding and surf instructor courses this year, adding to the highly accredited services as a leading and certified training centre,  which has already welcomed armed forces personnel in developing their careers or acquiring new skills for their future.
Rob Barber drafted the unique covenant which commits to providing support for the army in a broad spectrum of ways, he commented ‘We have been fortunate to work with key personnel from the forces over several years and developed Adventure Training as well as consultation for the annual Tri-Services Surfing Championships, and whilst our partnership is officially recognised at a national level, it has been really exceptional for us to now have an official covenant. We are thrilled to be supporting the armed forces community in the south west and beyond, and we welcome all personnel to try all of our new activities that we have launched this year, and we still honour our 40% discount for military personnel. ”

Major Mick Peters commented, “We’re pleased to continue to develop our work with Newquay Activity Centre, Rob has always provided excellent service, great facilities, and a professional team that are dedicated to their expertise within their fields and also have shown support to the armed services. Whether it’s personal development training, sponsoring the surf team and coaching the team to award winning successes or welcoming military families on educational coastal visits and fun coastal adventures or encouraging individuals to acquire new lifeguarding or surf instructor skills. We are thrilled that Newquay Activity Centre has joined the Armed Forces Covenant and we are excited to continue to develop this outstanding relationship with Rob and his team and embark on lots more coastal experiences and adventures with their expertise and guidance.”
