Sustainability is a big deal to us. It’s why we recycle our old wetsuits, collaborate with local businesses, support good causes and include environmental awareness in each and every one of our lessons. And now thanks to an awesome new project we’re also encouraging our customers to plant a tree to offset the impact of travelling to our Towan Beach HQ.

Launched by our very own instructor, Matt Davies, Mossy Earthis an ingenious Social Enterprise to help businesses, individuals and schools offset their carbon footprint. At its heart is the opportunity to buy a tree which is planted to create forests, restore key ecosystems and encourage rewilding, the protection and reintroduction of wild animals around the world.

Matt was inspired to come up with the idea when he was travelling the world for our sister company, Bodyboard Holidays, which takes him to far-flung destinations such as Nicaragua, California and El Salvador. As an environmentalist, his conscious (quite rightly) battled with his carbon footprint so he came up with this idea and quickly put it into action.

Such is the quality of the project, we’re not the only ones backing Mossy Earth. Matt has already garnered masses of support and staged conservation projects in Ireland, Portugal and Romania. Other local companies joining us in our support of the project are Bodyboard Holidays which, like us, encourages its customers to plant a tree, while The Bodyboard Dept plants a tree for every order that it sends out in the post.

Way to go Matt, you’re an inspiration!
