RAF Families Day 2023

Book your next adventure!

We recently welcomed back to Newquay Activity Centre, our wonderful friends at RAF St Mawgan for our annual RAF Family day. We host this gathering annually, as a personal way of connecting with military families and the military community, and demonstrating with purpose and intent, how fully we support them.

This year we organised a behind the scenes tour of the impressive RNLI station at Fistral Beach. It’s an incredible facility with lots to see and learn, and an unbelievable vantage point over the mighty Fistral waves.  We then put our military buddies through their paces with our family friendly Surf Survivor Activity, which combines lifeguarding skills, beach safety and coastal awareness. Surf Survivor is a  great way to engage with children, and a fun way to educate groups on water safety and rescue skills.

These activities, coupled with perfect weather meant a fantastic day was had by all. As well as it being educational, and valuable, we also helped families make incredible memories together, and that is priceless.

This was our eighth year of delivering our RAF Family Day, and working to connect with and champion our local military families. This is an event that we’ll continue to build upon going forwards. Thank you to all who joined us, and we hope to see you next year if not before!

Marine Wildlife Cornwall.

Newquay Wildlife – 80 Marine Species Spotted While Coasteering in Cornwall!

On rare occasions throughout the year we get super low tides that recede a lot further than usual uncovering parts of this beautiful coastline that normally go unseen. Both the general public and CWT members were treated to a very special coasteer team that included Marine Awareness Officer Matt Slater and local Eco Coasteer legend Karl Fice-Thomson. Due to the extreme low tide it was predicted that an area already abundant in wildlife would prove extra special with rock pools and caves normally inaccessible a likely haven to different species.
