Each month we catch up with a graduate of Newquay Activity Centre’s Outdoor Activity Instructor Academy (OAIA). We find out how their careers as Outdoor Activity Instructors are developing, and hear about their latest adventures.
Beth started her outdoor instructing journey just over a year ago as part of the January 2022 course. Once she graduated in March 2022 she chose to interview with NAC and was offered an instructing role at the centre. Beth has a background in teaching and brings a lot of energy and passion to her sessions, so it’s no surprise NAC jumped at the chance to employ her. Over the course of the 2022 summer season Beth filled her schedule with a combination of instructing and NAC supervisor work, which involves customer service in the office and managing the smooth running of the centre as a whole. This gave her the chance to learn all elements of the business, and stood her in good stead for her next step in the outdoor activity industry.
In October 2022 Beth was offered a position with one of NAC’s partner organisations in New Zealand, surf coaching and paddle sport instructing. Beth’s still out there, coaching, learning, visiting waterfalls and exploring one of the most beautiful and adventurous countries on earth. It’s been a year since her graduation, and wow what a year it’s been. We wish you the best of luck Beth, keep smashing it!!
