A personal favourite of the Army’s Surf Team is our Super SUP + Coasteering experience in Newquay. Think kayaking, surfing and navigation, add the exhilarating challenge of coasteering and you have the much-loved Military Super SUP + Coasteer challenge.

Top-quality Equipment

Your whole unit will be kitted out in top-quality Rip Curl wetsuits from the comfort of our on-site heated changing rooms. You will then be supplied with buoyancy aids, helmets and pro paddles to take down to the water’s edge. From here your industry-leading instructor will teach you the basics in ocean safety and fundamental SUP and coasteering skills.

After a few practice paddles and balance exercises on the shoreline, it’s time to hit the water and practice what you’ve learned! Conquering something new in the first lesson is a great way of honing your mental and physical capabilities to overcome adversity.

How It Works

This particular task focuses on teamwork, cohesion and ocean safety during an exhausting yet exciting coastal activity. Your troops will be introduced to the best parts of the Cornish coastline for an unforgettable training experience. Challenge your team to work outside their comfort zone in this physically and mentally demanding coastal drill.

We launch and land from two of Newquay’s lush, semi-secret coves. The start to experience is an adventure, as we walk down a rock path to the water’s edge. It’s worth it as the scenery is breath taking, there is some incredible coastal wildlife in the area, and you really are experiencing the best of Newquay’s coastal fringe. We take the walk down to the water slowly, the Super SUP will be waiting in the cove for you.

The Super SUP + Coasteer challenge tests a diverse range of skill sets that are transferable to a myriad of other adventure sports in and out the water. These include:

• Kneel and stand up paddling
• Perfecting paddle strokes
• Navigating the coastline
• Identifying local marine life
• Executing beach launching & landings
• Cliff climbing skills

With so much action and adrenaline, this unique experience will motivate and test your team to its limits, while the guaranteed laughter and banter will build camaraderie and make for the most memorable adventure training to date!

As part of a multi-activity programme, our military adventure sessions are structured to offer rapid progression which enables your team to learn quickly.
