LEARN TO STAND UP PADDLE BOARD!

With the correct safety advice and instruction, stand up paddle boarding is quick and easy to learn. First, our instructors teach you the basics, then the tour sets off with a unique and adventurous paddle to find some of Newquay’s most interesting underwater worlds. Most of our SUP groups begin paddling on their knees, advancing to a stand up position when they feel safe and confident to do so.

Our Snorkel & SUP tour has been designed to teach you many core skills including how to: launch and land, stand up and balance, hold your paddle, perform basic strokes and how to make directional changes.

We launch and land from two of Newquay’s lush, semi-secret coves. The start to experience is an adventure, as we walk down a rock path to the water’s edge. It’s worth it as the scenery is breath taking, there is some incredible coastal wildlife in the area, and you really are experiencing the best of Newquay’s coastal fringe. We take the walk down to the water slowly, the paddleboards will be waiting in the cove for you.

There is absolutely no pressure on our Snorkel & SUP Adventure; feel free to enjoy the session from the comfort of your board, or give standing up a go – it’s entirely up to you! Our experienced instructors are there to help whatever your skill level may be. With all the exciting snorkel jump-off’s, you might even find yourself lying down!

HISTORY COMES ALIVE

Newquay’s coastal scenery is simply stunning, but look a little closer and you’ll discover the markings of a history that’s rife with mystery and drama. From gin plundering pirates to raging storms and shipwrecks, yesteryear’s gripping past is visible on the landscape of today!

From the deck of your SUP you will explore the coastline above the water’s surface, navigating your boards into caves once occupied by seafaring pirates. You can keep an eye out for forgotten treasure above and below the water on our Snorkel SUP Tour!

UNDERWATER SECRETS

Once moored up in the cove, your SUP becomes a diving board into the watery world beneath! Jump in and peer into our natural marine ecosystem just minutes from Towan Beach.

Due to the abundance of marine life around the shores of Newquay, you needn’t venture too far down to witness the magic of the ocean. Our Snorkel & Sup Adventure comprises a relaxed surface swim where you can see plenty of wonder all with your snorkel safely above the water line. You can also use this time to chill out and enjoy the views if you wish; the day is yours!

Our exclusive SUP snorkel tours are a luxurious way to appreciate the scenery and get a glimpse into the marine environment below. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, simply curious about our coastline’s marine environment, or you want to try something completely unique, this is the perfect adventure for you.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS EXTREME WEATHER?

We are super fortunate to operate many of our activities in the shelter of Towan beach. We choose the tide and weather times that deliver the very best conditions for Stand Up Paddleboard Tours. However, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and sometimes she may have different plans for us. We always check the forecasted conditions but if the wind or swell picks up unexpectedly, we will move your session on to our Super SUPs, this will ensure you still cover the same route and session content but will be on a craft that is more resilient against the conditions. Alternatively, we may offer a different time or location for your tour.

Over 95% of our tours go ahead unaffected by the weather but, in the unlikely event that this does happen, we have excellent back-up options for you to choose from. We appreciate your understanding.

Newquay Activity Centre takes SUPing seriously; we have the qualifications and experience to consistently maintain a high level of safety and fun. We are a two-time Gold winner of the Cornwall Tourism Awards and a Gold award winner at the South West Tourism Awards. Our Individual Stand Up Paddleboarding adventures in Newquay are days-out to remember!

With safety at the forefront of our lessons, we must advise that children under the age of 8 are welcome to SUP with us but they should be accompanied by an adult and book onto a private or family group tour.

Alternatively we can move your booking onto a different activity, safe from unsuitable or dangerous SUP conditions.

Please note: Although we always aim to experience snorkelling as best we can, sometimes Mother Nature has other ideas for us! If water visibility is low during your session, we will always provide more time on the SUP tour instead.

If we need to amend your stand up paddle board booking due to adverse weather, we will let you know in advance. (No need to call us). We appreciate your understanding.

NEWQUAY ACTIVITY CENTRE

Our purpose-designed centre, conveniently located near Towan beach, is your one-stop shop for ocean adventure activities in Newquay. We’re not in the business of just making a quick buck. When you book with Newquay Activity Centre, you get the care, attention, knowledge and feedback that you need.
