Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) returns to Newquay Activity Centre for a Super Stand Up Paddleboard Coasteer adventure!

We work hard at Newquay Activity Centre to continually develop disabled activities that can be enjoyed by all, tailored to the individual needs and requirements of the group whatever their abilities.

So when we receive positive feedback from those who’ve visited before, our team have the biggest smiles!

Having worked with the charity before, groups from Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) returned to try our new adrenaline-fuelled adventure, super SUP coasteers! After getting kitted out in top quality wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets and a thorough safety briefing, the groups headed down to the old lifeboat slip to launch the giant SUP.

Super stand up paddleboard coasteers are our new favourite activity, developed this summer to combine the exciting hands-on approach of coasteering explorations with the team challenge of navigating a giant stand up paddleboard together! The perfect and adaptable water-based disabled activity devised and supervised by our Surf GB and lifeguard qualified instructors.

Groups were required to flex their communication and teamwork skills in order to navigate the inflatable craft around the craggy Gazzle coastline, deep into smugglers caves and up to rocky inlets before starting their coasteering adventure.

Using techniques explained by our expert coasteering guides at the start of the activity, the kids climbed up out the water onto the coasteering route and traversed along the cliff base, finding wildlife to identify before leaping from ledges into deep water plunge pools.

The SUP acts as a perfect platform from which to dive into the water or spy on the creatures below with goggles! And before heading back to the old lifeboat slip, tales of pirates and smugglers were shared of Gazzle’s rich history and heritage.

Whatever your ability or level of confidence in outdoor environments, our professional instructors will help groups of all abilities push personal boundaries whilst you explore our stunning stretch of coastline.

Sensational Spring In Newquay

April in Newquay was all blue skies and calm seas. From beginner surf sessions to scenic kayak tours and snorkel adventures, see what made this Easter break one to remember.

Marine Wildlife Cornwall.

Newquay Wildlife – 80 Marine Species Spotted While Coasteering in Cornwall!

On rare occasions throughout the year we get super low tides that recede a lot further than usual uncovering parts of this beautiful coastline that normally go unseen. Both the general public and CWT members were treated to a very special coasteer team that included Marine Awareness Officer Matt Slater and local Eco Coasteer legend Karl Fice-Thomson. Due to the extreme low tide it was predicted that an area already abundant in wildlife would prove extra special with rock pools and caves normally inaccessible a likely haven to different species.
