Over the years, the team here at Newquay Activity Centre have learned what it takes to provide epic times for people looking for fun water sports in Newquay. Way up near the top of that list is spending a few hours on the water on our super stand up paddle board. An inflatable maneuverable deck with enough space for you and 7 of your best mates! We’ve had many reincarnations of our super SUP lessons in Newquay over time. As we evolve as a company, we tweak our lessons and sessions to suit the needs of our customers. We try to provide as much fun as possible which sometimes means saying goodbye to a few old classics. In this series of blogs we will be taking a look back at some paddles from the past, appreciating just how far our super stand up paddle board has come!

Exhilarating, maxed-out fun meets a serene experience! Our River Super SUP lesson and tour combines our supersized stand up paddle board with the calm waters of Newquay’s River Gannel. This unique activity offers the ideal platform for exploring the river wildlife coupled with a dose of adrenaline!
About this lesson
Gather your family and friends for 2 hours of supersized hilarity and adventures. Away from the crashing waves of Newquay’s beaches, the River Gannel is abundant with river wildlife, beautiful views and a tranquil atmosphere – a stand up paddle boarder’s dream location! It’s also a protected area of marine conservation.
But let’s not forget that dose of adrenalin! Holding up to 8 people, our giant Stand Up Paddle Board is all about teamwork! Can you all paddle together without falling in?
What you’ll learn
After kitting you up with wetsuits and buoyancy aids, we’ll run through safety procedures and teach you basic paddling and self rescue techniques. We’ll launch from the river bank and work as a team to navigate and explore this protected area of marine conservation.
You might opt for a more tranquil, fact-filled experience but if it’s adrenalin fun you’re looking for, we can do that too! We can throw in some games such as ‘last man standing’ and a ‘capsize race.’ Are you up to the challenge?
Ideal for eco and wildlife lovers
Explore the natural beauty and serenity of Penpol Creek – a peaceful lagoon shrouded by overhanging trees. From the platform of the super SUP, our instructors will point out rare estuary birds and river wildlife including egrets, cormorants and wimbrels. Gaze below the surface to spot crabs, perch and mullet – you may also spot otters and water voles.
Our friendly instructors really know their stuff. They’re clued up on all things eco and wildlife and love sharing their passion for one of Newquay’s most secluded spots.
