Newquay Activity Centre featured in Sunday Times, as Fistral Beach is crowned UK’s best beach for activities!

Written by Anya Gilbert

It’s not everyday you get a solid mention in the Sunday Times, but the Newquay Activity Centre are stoked to have been featured as the go-to activities provider in Newquay, located above Fistral Beach – the Sunday Times’ winning UK surfing destination.

In what many locals describe as a resurgence of Newquay as the No.1 seaside destination in the UK, the town deservedly won three prestigious awards: Best Beach in the UK (Lusty Glaze), and Best Beach for activities (Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay).

To us this comes as no surprise where the modern family want more to their seaside holidays than sand castles, sun burn and sticks of rock. Today’s typical family visiting the South West want action packed activities and adrenaline filled extreme sports – Newquay has it all!

As Trip Advisor’s number one provider of water sport activities in Newquay, we provide a wide variety extreme sports that are encouraging adrenaline junkies back to Newquay for their holidays. We’re lucky enough to be situated just above Fistral beach. The sandy stretch is orientated perfectly to catch maximum swell energy from the Atlantic Ocean and shape it into the glassy water walls we love so much. Surfing and bodyboarding are just two perfect ways to get out and fully experience its quality waves and pristine sands, whilst getting your adrenaline pumping. Try them once and you’ll be hooked!

But they’re not the only way to experience our special stretch of Cornish coastline …check our 3 most popular activities from last summer:

1. Adrenaline filled Coasteering along the gorgeous Gazzle peninsula

Whilst the surf is pumping on the Fistral side of the Headland peninsular, the Gazzle hosts an array of smugglers caves, natural rapids and craggy coastal ledges; a perfectly sheltered playground for coasteering just 200m from Newquay Activity Centre.

2. Hilariously fun Super Stand Up Paddle Boarding in Newquay bay

We’ve developed a new and exciting activity in time for the good weather this summer, our Super SUP adventure from the Gazzle to Towan Beach! Groups of eight at a time will work together to paddle the giant sized inflatable craft around Newquay’s stunning coastline before mooring up and tackling a variety of games including Sumo SUP and SUP wars. It’s a bit of a giggle and a fantastic way to bond a group together.

3.The ultimate package: Super Stand Up Paddle Board Coasteer

Why not combine the rush of coasteering with the fun of the SUP! After paddling your way into cave mouths, navigating through whirlpools and wrestling your way to become King of the SUP, you’ll join the coasteering route to explore the Gazzle hands on with a series of low level traverses, sluice rides and ledge leaps into deep water plunge pools.

With three hours water-time under your belt, we’ll give you 10% off food and drink at the Carnmarth Hotel to refuel.

So put Newquay on your hit list this summer to experience for yourself why it was rated so highly in the Sunday Times. And if you want to book on one of our exhilarating activities this summer, then give the team a call on 01637 877722 or email at info@newquayactivitycentre.co.uk
