HOW DO LIFEGUARD TRIALS WORK?

Our Lifeguard Trials are neatly divided into two fun sessions consisting of three overall activities with a halfway break for lunch. All of the included activities are fun, exciting and perfect for building a stronger rapport within your team. The nature of depending on one another to complete challenging tasks helps to solidify friendships and boost morale within the workforce. Plus, who doesn’t want to spend an adventurous all-expenses-paid day on the beautiful shores of Cornwall?!

THE MORNING SESSION

On arrival to the Newquay Activity Centre, your group will be kitted out with Rip Curl wetsuits and all other relevant safety equipment before following our friendly instructors down to the wide expanse of Fistral beach. It’s here that your team will boost camaraderie whilst learning to perform some fundamental lifesaving skills. These skills are an existing part of the internationally recognised beach lifeguard training course SLSGB – so you’re legitimately learning the best of the best! The session will be pitched to incorporate fun and laughter whilst learning some serious lifesaving skills.

After some fun warm up games, you will set out to learn the following:

• Board rescues
• Tube rescues
• Rescuing an unconscious casualty
• Casualty lifts and carries
• Dealing with a 1st response casualty
• Identifying rip currents & tackling waves
• Basic first aid skills

THE AFTERNOON SESSION

Depending on the tide and your team’s preference, we’ll work with you to find the perfect afternoon session full of coasteering and super SUP fun. We have the North Coast Challenge and Adventure Gulley for the thrill seekers, the Heritage Coasteer for the cultured adrenaline junkies and the Low Tide Coasteer for the environmentally minded.

Imagine clambering through old smugglers’ caves, climbing up rocks & traversing cliffs.  Watching incredible marine life in its natural habitat, negotiating natural rapids and enjoying whirlpools before attempting adrenaline-fuelled sea cliff jumps; that’s exactly what coasteering is all about!

Whilst enjoying the fun of our epic coasteering routes, you will safely-yet-unexpectedly be thrown into a mock rescue scenario! Once your instructor gives the call, you will have to think fast and cast your mind back to the mornings lesson to devise a rescue plan for your staged casualty. (We’re not saying that your boss should be the staged casualty, but this might be the perfect time to get your own back!) Think on your feet and assess the situation to prove you’ve got what it takes to overcome the challenges facing you and your crew.

SUPER SUP FUN

As well as counting on each other, you will also be able to call in the aid of our nearby super SUP to help get your casualty to safety. Once free of the crags and cliffs, and with a successful rescue under your belt, you will have the chance to explore the coast using your new rescue craft.

Learn how to paddle effectively and work as a team to navigate this giant stand up paddle board around the dramatic coastline of Newquay. Use this super sized floating platform of fun as a base to run, jump, splash and paddle your way through the crystal-clear waters before returning back to base.

All of our team building activities in Cornwall are entertaining, inclusive and full of healthy competition.
