1. Is wild camping legal in Cornwall?
Can you wild camp in Cornwall? England & Wales offer no automatic right to wild camp (unlike Scotland). Unless you have explicit land-owner permission you risk trespass. The 2024/25 Dartmoor High-Court ruling stayed local to Dartmoor and did not extend rights to Cornwall.
Permission hotspots
- Foreshores – You may be allowed discreet one-night bivvies above the high-tide mark (no fires, tents down by 9 a.m.).
- Private estates – Tregothnan run low-impact “night-stop” trials; email in advance.
- CampWild UK – four legal, conservation-funded sites in Cornwall from £15/night.
